Welcome to The ThunderdomeIn the late 1980's, Australia had been bitten by the NASCAR bug. And a 1.1-mile superspeedway just across from a national park would be our home ground for Australia's version of Stock Car Racing, known aptly as 'The Thunderdome'.

Making The Monaco GP A Crown Jewel... AgainFormula 1 and IndyCar are the two top open wheel championships in the motorsport world. Although they differ enough to discourage comparisons that try to determine which series is better, IndyCar can learn a lot from Formula 1. And so too can Formula 1 learn a lot from IndyCar.

Rocking The Boat: The Indy 500/F1 DiscrepanciesI’ve already gone over how F1 statistics can sometimes be confusing and unnecessarily complicated in a previous editorial. This time, I want to go over a few more facts and stats that can be considered discrepancies or anomalies, ones you may not have heard of before.

Triumph and Tragedy: The 2001 Daytona 500February 18, 2001. The 43rd Running of the Dayton 500 would be one of the greatest races in NASCAR. But that 18th day in February would be tarnished with one of the most unexpected and saddest tragedies in motorsport.

The History of Land SpeedSpeed. We have obsessed over it since the dawn of time. The cavemen and our early ancestors would rely on running quickly to escape predators and hunt down prey. The average human can run approximately at a speed of 13km/hr.

The Biggest ‘What If’ in MotorsportI don’t like thinking about ‘what ifs’ in motorsport. There are so many variables and little things that affect race results, and the performance of teams and drivers. The Major Problems with Modern Day NASCARNASCAR is a unique form of top-level auto racing. Their schedule mainly consists of oval racetracks, varying from short tracks like Bristol and Martinsville, to the Super Speedways of Daytona and Talladega. They certainly are a unique spectacle to watch, a pack of 40 cars, dicing among each other, using strategy and the draft to work with others and get to the front.

An Appreciation Letter To DrivingI think it's unbelievable that us, as humans can drive cars. We are able to control one-two tonnes of metal, rubber and plastic at speeds of 100km/hr +, whilst hundreds of other people do the same around us. And most of us, can do it constantly and consistently without any large incident.

Monochrome Photographs, The Simple Equation and Endless ExpressionEditing pictures is one difficult juggling act. You must balance, colours, contrast and the photos exposure in each click of the mouse and playing it safe is usually your best option for a usable image.
But remove colour out of the equation and going a bit crazy becomes more appealing. |
Through My Lens: The First 17 MonthsAs more than a third of the world is currently in lock down, it gives us time to reflect, get stuff done around the house or just rock in a corner. For me I've been able to look over the past year and a bit since I started my website and photographing Melbourne car culture. I thought I might also share with you a bit of a review of these past 17 months.
